DSRED: A New Queue Management Scheme for the Next Generation Internet
نویسندگان
چکیده
Random Early Detection (RED), an active queue management scheme, has been recommended by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) for the next generation routers. RED suffers from a number of performance problems, such as low throughput, large delay/jitter, and induces instability in networks. Many of the previous attempts to improve the performance of RED have been based on optimizing the values of the RED parameters. However, results have shown that such optimizations resulted in limited improvement in the performance. In this paper, we propose Double Slope RED (DSRED), a new active queue management scheme to improve the performance of RED. The proposed scheme is based on dynamically changing the slope of the packet drop probability curve as a function of the level of congestion in the buffer. Results show that our proposed scheme results in better performance than original RED. key words: active queue management, routers, Internet, simulation, performance evaluation

A new active congestion control mechanism for the Internet
In the last three decades, the development of communication and networking technology has rapidly increased and the use of the internet has become one of the tasks in our daily life. The revolution of the internet from transferring the data to the multimedia applications makes it one of the most important and quickest media for delivering the information in the world. On the other side, this re...
متن کاملAn Enhanced RED-Based Scheme for Differentiated Loss Guarantees
Recently, researchers have explored to provide a queue management scheme with differentiated loss guarantees for the future Internet. The Bounded Random Drop (BRD), known as the best existing scheme, is one of such efforts which guarantees strong loss differentiation to the level of traffic in the different service classes. Even though BRD has several benefits such as low complexities and good ...

Active buffer management can improve the performance of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol-based networks. Random early detection (RED), an active queue management scheme, has been proposed by the Internet Engineering Task Force for next-generation Internet routers. RED uses a number of parameters, such as buffer thresholds, a packet drop probability and a weight parameter. RED suf...
متن کاملA Novel Trust Management Model in the Social Internet of Things
The Internet of Things (IoT) and social networking integration, create a new concept named Social Internet of Things (SIoT) according to which the things are able to autonomously establish social relationships with regard to the owners. Things in SIoT operate according to a service-oriented architecture. There may be misbehaving owners and consequently misbehaving devices that can perform harmf...
متن کاملReduction of queue oscillation in the next generation Internet routers
The Internet routers employing the random early detection (RED) algorithm for congestion control suffer from the problem of chaotic queue oscillation. It is well known that the slowly varying nature of the average queue size computed using an exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) used in the RED scheme causes this chaotic behavior. This paper presents a new mathematical function to model...
